Wolves Next As The Owls Take A 2-0 Victory In The Cup

Earlier this evening Sheffield Wednesday opened up their 2018/19 EFL Cup campaign with a trip up to Sunderland and the Stadium of Light.

With Wednesday not having too many options owing to no signings over the permanent transfer window and our current injury situation, manager Jos Luhukay did shake things up a little with his starting eleven as a couple of new faces came into his thoughts for the match but it was largely as fans were probably expecting.

Alex Hunt, last season’s Under 18 skipper did come in for his debut though.

Goals from Marco Matias and Adam Reach gave us the 2-0 victory on the evening and that will certainly lift spirits and with the EFL Cup draw for the second round taking place earlier in the evening, we now know we host Wolverhampton Wanderers and Hillsborough at the next stage of the competition.

Hopefully, they’ll prioritise the Premier League and take the Cups less seriously this term as a mini Cup run would do us the world of good for a variety of reasons.
