Sheffield Wednesday suffered a 3-0 defeat at home to Reading on Saturday and Cameron Dawson was one of many players to come away with criticism from supporters.
The 24-year-old has been short of form in recent weeks, making errors leading to goals and looking shaky between the sticks, leading to calls for his removal from the starting eleven.
Dawson was beaten to a through ball by Yakou Meite for Reading’s first goal, was deceived by a deflected effort from Andy Yiadom and couldn’t keep out a Sam Baldock penalty at the death despite going the right way.
Fans weren’t happy with Dawson’s distribution either and felt he was needlessly giving the ball away due to his inability to play out of the back.

I have no idea why anyone rates Dawson. Not good enough. #swfc

Been saying this for weeks, Iorfa has to make last ditch tackles because a lot of the time it's his mistakes that cause the issues, unpopular opinion as most #swfc fans think he's the best CB at the club. Dawson needs dropping only player not to pay for continuous errors.

Not sure why so many see Hutch as the saviour of our midfield. Booked 10 times and gives away so many needless free kicks. Also always looking for the glory pass over the top which never happens. Both Dawson and Westwood making too many errors. Give Wildsmith a go. #swfc

Westwood is better than Dawson.
Hutchinson is better than Pelupessy.
Nuhiu is the worst striker at the club.
It’s like Monk wants to get sacked.
He’s hindering himself & most importantly the team, which needs to come first. Bruce didn’t have a problem with these two players #swfc— Chris Hudson (@ChrisHuds) February 15, 2020
Dawson needs to be dropped ASAP. #swfc

#swfc also how many more errors does Dawson have to make before he is dropped. Makes a serious error every game and everyone defends him saying he’s the future of the club.

Dawson needs to be dropped. If he wants to keep this pettiness going with Westwood then fine but he needs to give Wildsmith a run now. #swfc

Against Reading, the 24-year-old made 30 touches, completed 54.6% of his 22 passes, made two saves, parried one effort, found a teammate with 10 of his 20 attempted long balls and made one clearance.
Dawson has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season, conceding 26 goals and keeping nine clean sheets. Joe Wildsmith is waiting in the wings on the bench, but it remains to be seen if Garry Monk will make a change.
