Alongside the Butterfield deal, it was also confirmed last night that Sam Winnall would leave to join Derby County until the end of the season.

The 26-year-old striker only joined 9 months ago from local side, Barnsley, in a highly-contraversial move. This was due to moving between two local sides (I’d say rivals, but they’re not competition for us!) for such a small fee.

He had featured 18 times for Carlos Carvalhal’s outfit, scoring four goals, including the equaliser against QPR to earn Wednesday their first point of the season.

There is speculation that the move comes following a training ground bust-up with teammate Fernando Forestieri, who has been regularly omitted from the squad throughout the opening games of the campaign.

This move paved the way for Jacob Butterfield to join the Owls on loan for the season. Winnall’s deal is also a loan, so he too will return the Owls for the 2018/19 campaign. It is unknown if there is a recall fee/clause within either of the loan contracts.

The main positive from this move as it will allow the Rams to steal yet another of our chants…
