What are your thoughts on this one folks. The EFL has decided that Tim Robinson will take charge of the 2018/19 opener against Wigan Athletic.
The game will kick off at 3pm at the DW Stadium and the clash between Wigan Athletic and Sheffield Wednesday takes place on Saturday, August 4.
The selection for this game is:
Referee: Tim Robinson
Assistant Refs: Mark Jones and Matthew McGrath
Fourth Official: Matthew Donohue
Robinson is a semi-familiar face to the Owls, in the season of 2017/18 he only took charge of one game – the 4-1 victory over Preston North End at Hillsborough in late March. That game saw three yellow cards.
In 2016/17 he also oversaw one game, the 1-0 victory over Rotherham United at Hillsborough. That match saw five yellows and one red card.
Two wins from two, Wednesday could certainly do with an omen like that as we open the 2018/19 campaign given the summer we’ve had so far.
A first win, at the first time of asking, this year would do wonders for confidence and spirit given the challenges plenty of fans feel we will face this year given financial concerns and, at least at the time of typing, a significant lack of strengthening.
