Things aren’t looking too good for our friends up the M1 – we ask Leeds season ticket holder Andy exactly what has gone wrong at Uncle Ken’s gaff!

——————————————-

1. Let’s get this one out the way, will you be going down or not?

Head say yes and my heart agrees with it. Just cannot see any light at the end of the tunnel. Things are going to get worse before they get better. Would like to think we’d come straight back up but that’s not a certainty by any means and that’s if we have a club to watch!

2. Can you put your finger on just why everythings gone so wrong this season?

I think one of the major factors at the start of the season was that Blackwell knew he was on borrowed time as did the players and the fans. I think he should have been replaced sooner, he was never the
man for Bates.

3. What are your thoughts on Dennis Wise, can he turn you around?

Difficult one, his appointment was certainly an old pals act but there wasn’t really any other affordable ‘big name’ option. Certainly proved himself with Swindon (I know I know!) albeit for a short period of time! I think the problem Wise has is that he was right up there with Keane & Cantona in the popularity stakes at Elland Road before his appointment so it was/is an uphill struggle. I will say that the fans have been very patient and haven’t really turned on him on mass as yet although it can’t be far away!

4. And what about Mr Bates? Has he come under fire at all?

I think at first the fans understood that he basically saved the club, if it wasn’t for him we wouldn’t have a team to watch.
Problem he has now is were does he go from here. It looks like we are going down so what happens to the S/T prices as a result, they should come down quite significantly but knowing Uncle Ken I fear the worst. I for one certainly won’t be renewing my S/T unless it is drastically reduced, will probably just cherry pick a few home games and some local awaydays like Donny, Bradford, Huddersfield (should be fun!). I think a lot of fans will do the same which will impact on the clubs finances even more!

5. Has this ‘mole’ been named and shamed yet? What do you think to whole scenario?

Don’t think we’ll ever know. When it first broke DW said he knew who it was but wasn’t saying then he say’s only the player himself knows! Storm in a teacup in my opinion. Will soon be forgotten.

6. You’ve made a load of loan signings under Wise – who has impressed and who hasn’t?

To be honest not sure who’s on loan and who isn’t! All our goalies are much of a muchness so don’t really understand what’s happened there. Alan Thompson has looked good but now he’s injured as is Flo. Johnson from Wolves may inject some much needed pace but his prowess at Wolves (3 in 24) suggests he’s not the most prolific of strikers.

7. Who are your danger men? (if there is such a thing?!)

Oh how we laughed! I think your old friend Mr Cresswell could cause you a few problems as could Robbie Blake, very tricky player when he’s on his game and excellent in dead ball situations as is Alan Thompson.

8. What are your weaknesses?

Most of the back four and the midfield! To be fair to the defence it’s the midfield or lack of it that adds to their woes! Whenever we are under pressure (most of the time!) the midfield disappears, no tackling or closing down and as a result it’s like the parting of the red sea whenever the opposition is on the offensive.

9. It may pain you to say it, but we did you a favour last weekend, and we also have QPR coming up – have you, and will you, be cheering us on against your rivals?

We’ll take all the help we can get although it doesn’t really matter what other teams do if we can’t do the business ourselves. Will admit I did cheer when you cut the mighty Southend down to size at the weekend. (Has it really come to this!)

10. What’s your score prediction?

Hmmmm, after all those negative responses I’ll go for a 2-1 win to Leeds but I don’t think it’ll be enough to save us from the drop.

All together now ‘Shall we do a bounce for you?’

——————————————-

Cheers Andy! I’d love to say good luck in the fight against the drop, but I’d get hammered by the Owls fans! (and I wouldn’t mean it!).

All I can say is I loved it in League One, all the local derbies, all the Tuesday night matches against your Yeovil’s, Leyton Orient’s. It will be an experience!

NEXT UP – Plymouth Argyle!
