Wednesday’s Wait For A Win Continues With Brentford Disappointment

Sheffield Wednesday travelled to Griffin Park to face Brentford in today’s Championship clash.

Manager Jos Luhukay was searching for a first Championship win in the 2018/19 campaign as we went into the game, and with the hosts scoring in each half, that search continues following this match.

A Neal Maupay penalty in the 20th minute gave them the lead and they doubled their advantage just after the hour mark and whilst there was again plenty of huff and puff from the side, Wednesday were well beaten on all the statistics that count.

Across the 90 minutes we only managed four efforts on goal and tellingly only one of those was on target, so the previous positives and being wasteful when it came to chances created went out of the window in this one.

Marco Matias came closest for us as he broke the offside trap, but he couldn’t beat Brentford keeper Dan Bentley and a Sergi Canos effort curled wide of the mark, so it is our second loss of the season so far and for many they will think it’s time to go back to the drawing board.
