After only a handful of games, new Owl`s boss Jos Luhukay has already boosted the morale of the Wednesday faithful.

Almost one month into his managerial reign, Luhukay seems to have re-ignited the fire amongst the players and that of the fans. His predecessor, Carlos Carvalhal departed S6 during a campaign filled with uncertainty and commotion. Hope and intent is a key characteristic within any football team and the light at the end of the tunnel is once again beginning to shine.

Although success can be a slow process, Luhukay must be given plenty of time to implement his own ideas. His arrival has already distinguished authority as an element of recipe to help achieve Sheffield Wednesday`s short and long-term objectives.

There is no doubt that the Owl`s are yet to play eye catching or mouth-watering football, however, five games unbeaten, conceding only one goal in the process is certainly a huge step in the right direction.

The transformation defensively hasn`t gone un-noticed. Four clean sheets in five games is a dramatic improvement, especially within a team whereby defensive lapses and poor individual errors were regular occurrence since the beginning of the winter months. Obviously, the deployed 5-3-2 formation is a major factor within this success thus far. Give Jos credit where it`s due, implementing this arrangement just days into his onset.

Furthermore, Dutch-man Luhukay has given more game time to the younger generation of players than Carvalhal ever did in his 30-month reign in the hot-seat. Upmost admiration for Jos for putting this into practice has been a welcome action amongst the supporters. By doing this, Luhukay has essentially extended his first team squad without dipping into the transfer market, with the exception of Joey Pelupessy. Players such as Jordan Thorniley, Frederick Nielsen, Cameron Dawson and Connor O`Grady are all now trusted members of the first team.

Step by step, Luhukay must approach the Sheffield Wednesday squad as a work in progress and early indication suggest he will do just that. His first four-weeks in charge have certainly not pulled up any trees, but Luhukay`s approach and methods have certainly raised a few eyebrows.

With an FA Cup 5th round tie in addition to the remaining league term, plus a pre-season and summer transfer window ahead, Luhukay has plenty of time to recognise his squad`s strengths and then install his own brand of football if he hasn`t already done so. With key first team players returning from injury also, this can only give Wednesdayites optimism for the future.

So far so good!
