Earlier in the week Sheffield Wednesday were boosted by news that Gary Hooper and Kieran Lee were set for a run out at Under 23 level against Colchester United.

The game went well for Hooper as he got 45 minutes into his tank as he continues his recovery, but Lee suffered what’s believed to be an issue with his knee and was substituted 15 minutes into the tie.

With no real announcement about the potential severity of his fresh issue and no new timescale put on a possible return, manager Jos Luhukay has revealed that Sam Winnall has now been ruled out of training in his own search for fitness as he’s picked up a fresh calf injury himself.

With it seeming like our injury situation was beginning to turn itself around, we now seem to be heading in the opposite direction again and Sam Hutchinson is also out this weekend as he continues to receive treatment on a groin injury. It’s hoped he’ll be back in training next Monday.

Almen Abdi is back in full training as well, but again he has no timescale on a return according to the gaffer but we should be able to welcome Michael Hector and Josh Onomah into contention this weekend as they trained for the first time today.

We’ll have to wait and see whether anyone else drops out of contention ahead of Stoke City on Saturday.
