It was a case of back down to earth for Sheffield Wednesday fans as we slipped to another defeat on Saturday to newly promoted Blackburn Rovers.

Having picked up a victory in our last clash to restore some confidence given our recent run of form, the hosts at Ewood Park had the advantage eleven minutes in. Wednesday did respond and in some ways, the effort can’t be faulted.

The quality can be though and Blackburn dominated the telling stats as they took charge again after the halftime restart and helped themselves to a 4-2 win.

With Lucas Joao giving some hope as he found the back of the net, he was obviously Whoscored’s Man of the Match and they gave him a top rating of 7.54.

Nobody else received a rating of above 7, so there’s not much to shout about as Steven Fletcher, Joey Pelupessy, Michael Hector and Fernando Forestieri completed the top five on the day.

Back to the drawing board…again.

  • The club are a shambles , but let’s not forget that J L came in last year when we were in a downward spiralling subterfuge , using Adam Reach along with squad players and academy lads he kept us up , things got better when Fessi and Bannan and Lees came back from injury , this season appears to be one of steady stagnation, caused by J Ls constant tinkering , WHY ? , surely players don’t need resting with so many international breaks already , what if the chairman has told J L to freeze out the older high earners to get rid of them , just tell us all we need is honesty , and if we have to sell one of Reach Bannan or Forestieri to balance the books just tell us so .
