With Sheffield Wednesday manager Jos Luhukay holding his first press conference of the summer yesterday as fans turn their eyes to the 2018/19 opener against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium, injuries were a hot topic of discussion during the questioning.
Local journo Dom Howson sent out the following tweet following the media affair and it certainly caused a stir on the clubs’ social media channels.
Almen Abdi is out of Saturday's Championship opener with Wigan, Jos Luhukay has confirmed. Is injured and has not trained with the team for 10 days. #SWFC

The 31-year-old came in for a reported £3million from Watford in the summer of 2016, but in his years with us so far the player has only made 14 starting appearances with a further nine showings from the bench as he’s seriously struggled with his fitness and injuries.
He hasn’t taken to the pitch for us since last March – having only made 7 appearances all season long – and back then Luhukay was quoted as saying he missed the Bolton Wanderers game because he ‘got something on his eye’.
With news of the former Switzerland international being sidelined once more, a number of fans just want him out of the club now as enough is enough.

Surely with the FFP rules appearing the be biting harder the FA have to support clubs who have players like this
— Malcolm Fox ????????⚪️ (@malcolm_fox2) August 2, 2018
The FA should set up a fund to pay off these players contracts an be known as “The Allen Abdi Fund” ????
