Wednesday Forward, a fans’ consortium headed by Rotherham businessman Spencer Fearn, is believed to be ready to table a £10m takeover bid for Wednesday.

The group, which includes local, London-based and foreign businessmen, has appeared as one of the front-runners to takeover the club and are set to submit their offer sooner rather than later.

Wednesday Forward group members are believed to have met in Sheffield last night to discuss the offer with fans’ groups Wednesdayite and Wednesday Till I Die before formally submitting in to the club.

Sheffield showbiz accountant John Roddinson is also involved in the consortium, while more financial backing comes from London-based and foreign businessmen.

But they’re not the only group who could be tabling a bid to takeover the League One club, with Berge Larsen, the Norweigen Oil Millionaire, believed to be lining-up an offer.

He currently owns Hartlepool United, where former Owls boss Chris Turner resigned from his position as director of football, and chief executive Russ Green also resigned, prompting links with Hillsborough.
