Following the speculation, Sheffield Wednesday confirmed on Thursday evening that Joey Pelupessy had completed his transfer from Heracles Almelo.

The 24 year old Dutchman heads in from Heracles Almelo for an undisclosed fee and he’s signed a permanent deal at Hillsborough although for some reason the club have not disclosed the length of his deal.

Pelupessy is credited as a leader both on and off the pitch, and is also pretty versatile giving new manager Jos Luhukay options in the backline where he can play as a right back or centre back. He’s also more than capable of slotting in as a defensive midfielder.

He leaves Heracles as their club captain and a fan favourite.

Having joined them from FC Twente back in 2014, he departs with 119 appearances for the club and he more than played their part to a Europa League adventure when they finished in sixth place in the Eredivisie back in 2015/16.

He signs in time to potentially make his debut this weekend in the Championship clash against Cardiff City.
