With Sheffield Wednesday having an incredibly quiet summer so far in 2018 with very little action on an incoming basis, defender Morgan Fox has said he’s unfazed by that as even allowing for the few departures we’ve seen since the end of last season, he believes there’s more than enough quality in the group to get us back challenging near the top of the table in the Championship season of 2018/19.

Speaking to the Star following the weekend’s behind closed doors friendly against Dutch side NAC Breda in Manchester, the 24-year-old was unconcerned with less than three weeks left before the transfer window slams shut.

“There has not been a lot of change this summer but we know what we have got in this group. We have a brilliant amount of talent. Everyone knows how good the squad is. You just have to look at the players we have got on our books. We have a great squad. We didn’t get into two play-offs for no reason.”

Having achieved back to back top-six finishes in recent years, 2017/18 was a disappointing campaign for fans but many will be hoping it was simply a blip rather than a sign of things to come. With the performances though plenty will wonder if Fox is being too brave in his words as we didn’t see much of that quality on show last season and not a lot has changed into terms of boosted optimism this summer.

With that said, the end of the campaign was a little stronger as Jos Luhukay get his feet more under the table and his message across to better effect, so we should be hitting the ground running this year and three back to back pre-season wins does imply that.

So who knows – there is at least reason to believe improvements will occur this term if you are more optimistic in nature.
