Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal could be forgiven for keeping some matters close to his chest as fans online vent their frustrations at the Owls squad and manager after a poor playoff campaign and lackluster start to the present EFL season.

Fans thinking it doesn’t affect players, their partners, families and of course the Owls head coach are sadly wrong. With the Owls facing a tough task at home to this year’s North East big fish fresh out of the Premier League in the shape of Sunderland tonight at S6. The backdrop of fan annoyance, indifferent form and now no Sam Hutchinson.

Carlos told swfc.co.uk:

“Sam Hutchinson is not so serious like we expected in that moment, it is something around the muscle of the knee, not exactly on the knee.

“It will take more time but not serious like it looked in that moment.

“At the beginning we stayed very concerned but after the exam it didn`t mention a very hard situation.

“In this moment, he is not available but we believe soon he can be back to training.

With Hutch out, Lee injured and Abdi missing training sessions it leaves the Owls with David Jones, George Boyd and Barry Bannan as the team’s only recognised central midfielders. Carlos added on Lee:

“With Kieran Lee, he is progressing slowly with the situation to be more strong around the hip, we must wait a little more for him.”

Another big pressure point for Wednesday is the central defensive ranks at S6. Reported across the footballing media as seeking to add reinforcements alongside Tom Less and Glenn Loovens, that pressure pot jumped up a bit as the Owls dutch Captain was substituted on Saturday against QPR.

Carlos told the press and swfc.co.uk:

“Glenn felt a very strong kick, very hard in that day and next day very difficult to walk,” Carlos Carvalhal explained.

“Yesterday he was walking better and today is much better, let`s see tomorrow if he ok.

“If the game was today, he could not play, for sure. But tomorrow, we will see if he can recover or not but he is progressing very well.”

The captain had his afternoon cut short through injury against QPR but has since made steady progress. ‘Glenn felt a very strong kick, very hard in that day and next day very difficult to walk,’ Carlos Carvalhal explained. ‘Yesterday he was walking better and today is much better, let’s see tomorrow if he ok.
