Wednesday returned home from Berkshire pointless and head into Tuesday South Yorkshire derby outside the playoff places. Fellow Thai owned Championship side Reading secured the points thanks a Roy Beerens double.

Wednesday were the stronger team until the goals but failed to convert chances either in or outside the area. Reading created the first chance, when Liam Moore nodded over from a Garath McCleary corner. Wednesday took control and saw chances fall to key midfielders Kieran Lee and Barry Bannan whose shots deflecting over narrowly wide.
Nuhiu took a pot shot from distance firing wide, followed by Ross Wallace who`s shot drew a fine save from Royals goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi. The Owls back line where untroubled by their attack despite the hosts having lots of possession.

In many of the Owls games, half time proved to be the changing point either for better or for worse, but the game failed to change dramatically from the first half. Barry Bannan blew a promising free-kick from the edge of the area and then Joao wasting the visitors best chance, seemingly wrong footing Al Habsi he dragged his shot wide in front of the travelling Owls army. The Owls then preceded to fall apart at the back. Allowing the Reading winger to strike after the Owls defence failed to clear a corner, Beerens on the edge of the area slammed home via a Loovens deflection.

Awake, and leading the home side bagged a second in the 76th minute when Yann Kermorgant flicked on an Al Habsi clearance and Beerens beat Westwood with a cleverly angled drive.

Wednesday pressed and we’re awarded for their efforts as Scottish International Steven Fletcher headed home late on, but with injury time and the Owls pressing the home side stood form to claim third spot and condemn the Owls to defeat.
