During a poor display from the whole team against Brentford, ahead of a crunch game against Yorkshire and Playoff rivals this Saturday lunchtime maybe it will prove the wake up call the players need as the season builds towards its most important months in March, April and May a positive response is needed.

Speqking to swfc.co.uk after the match, Owls wingback Liam Palmer said:

“It was a good response second half and you`re just hoping one of those chances goes in a little bit earlier and then push for the second.

“We showed good character to keep on fighting but we let ourselves down in the first half and we need to start better.

“But even at 2-0 down at half time, we had the belief that we could turn it around and we showed that in the second half.

“That`s the sign of a good group. Their goalkeeper had a magnificent game, five or six top class saves and on another night we could have pulled that deficit back, definitely.”

Now, a big game has been made bigger between Yorkshire’s two biggest sides. As only goal difference separates the two promotion rivals in the league table. After Leeds beat the Owls two – nil earlier in the season, payback and pride is on the fans minds as the two sides take to the Elland Road field this coming weekend. Palmer aware added:

“That`s the thing with football, you have to dust yourself down and move on. There is always another game to right the wrongs and there`s no better game than a derby to do so.

“Especially with the position of the two teams in the league, hopefully we can carry on from where we left off in the second half of the Brentford game.”
