Sheffield Wednesday have a number of poor performers from Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Reading, but Joey Pelupessy was one player to come away with fierce criticism from supporters after a below-par showing in midfield.
The 26-year-old started ahead of Barry Bannan and Josh Windass at the heart of the midfield but didn’t have a good afternoon and was eventually hooked at half-time.
Pelupessy worked hard to turn over possession and did drive with the ball from deep on a number of occasions, but he frequently misplaced passes and didn’t create any opportunities for the Wednesday’s attackers.

All I know is I never want to see Joey Pelupessy play a football game again, unless it’s on my local field!

You hear good reports of Alex Hunt, surely if he was any good he would be playing. Yes he is young and the situation is far from ideal but Pelupessy is utter garbage and if he was any good you’d hope he would be an improvement. Phillips was playing for Leeds at similar age #swfc

I thought I was the worst footballer ever to walk the planet, but I'm not…it's Pelupessy

We know the Pelupessy and Big Dave aren’t the answer, so we sign the likes of Wickham and Windass on loan. Yet we we start the first two and bench the latter two! #swfc

Against Reading, the 26-year-old played for 45 minutes, made 26 touches, won one aerial duel, completed 75% of his 16 passes, found a teammate with 50% of his long ball attempts, made two interceptions, gave away one foul, made three tackles and had two successful dribbles.
Pelupessy has made 14 appearances in all competitions this season, racking up 901 minutes of playing time. He hasn’t been a regular in 2019/20 but has been given more opportunities while Sam Hutchinson has been frozen out.
Unfortunately, the Dutchman hasn’t been on the winning side of any league game he’s started since October 2019.
