Wednesday have been dealt a blow with the news that star striker Akpo Sodje could be missing for up two months.

The former Port Vale man started the season in electric form with two goals in the first 17 minutes in the 4-1 victory over Burnley before he was dealt a blow just minutes later in hobbling off the pitch after pulling up injured.

And scan results have now shown that Wednesday could be missing their start striker for up to two months of the season.

‘He may have ruptured one of the tendons just behind the knee,’ Laws told the Sheffield Star.

‘We are going to have to have further investigations before we can get a full diagnosis and length of time he’ll be out, though I have to say it’s going to be for while – at least a month, probably up to a couple of months.

‘It’s a massive blow for us.’

Wednesday fans will be hoping for a swift return to action for Francis Jeffers, to plug the gap left by Sodje, although Leon Clarke could be given another chance against Rotherham United on Tuesday night.
