Sheffield Wednesday lifted themselves into 14th place in the Championship table on Tuesday evening as we took a narrow victory over Bolton Wanderers at Hillsborough.

It was a good way to bounce back from Derby County disappointment and our recent second tier disappointments full stop as the wheels fell back off manager Jos Luhukay’s bus and skipper Joey Pelupessy got the assist as Tom Lees headed home in the second period.

It wasn’t great by any means and our goal was the only effort on target, but we edged possession, had far more efforts overall and defensively also held them to testing goalkeeper Cameron Dawson only once on the day.

Statistics website Whoscored had the match winning 27-year-old down as our top rated player, narrowly beating out on-loan Chelsea’s Michael Hector.

Lees picked up a score of 8.60 immediately post-game, with Hector taking 8.57. The top five on the day were completed by Jordan Thorniley, Pelupessy and Barry Bannan. Adam Reach also received a 7+ rating and we did largely eclipse the opposition’s ratings so take the positives where we can.
