We were due to welcome Bolton Wanderers to Hillsborough on Wednesday, November 28 but that game has now come forward 24 hours and will take place at 7.45pm on Tuesday, November 27.
Our visit to London to face Millwall has also come forward 24 hours and will no longer take place on Wednesday, February 13, instead taking place at 7.45pm on Tuesday, February 12.
The reason given for both fixture changes is the ‘necessity’ to balance midweek fixtures over Tuesday and Wednesday and I never knew there was such a ‘necessity’ myself.
The modern-day football fan understands Saturday 3pm is no longer sacrosanct in the money-dominated television generation we now live in (that clubs’ have chosen to live in I should say) but you don’t need to look far across the Championship in the few short weeks since the fixtures were released for the new buzzwords to be on show ‘necessity to balance’ or ‘rest and recuperation’.
Most fans assume this is the next step of hiding presumed duller and less exciting fixtures in midweek, with long journeys to the annoyance of travelling fans, as the EFL have already spoken about to ensure bright full stadiums of a Saturday to wow markets abroad.
It’s not gone over well.
What date are the fixtures out properly then?

For some reason the FL have put midweek games on a Tuesday and Wednesday, but originally all were stated as a Wednesday but moved some to a Tuesday to have an even amount for some strange reason
