The conundrum and the debate at Sheffield Wednesday surrounding the decision not to play Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper Keiren Westwood could be brought to a speedy end in the January transfer window.

Plenty of Owls fans wouldn’t be surprised to see the 34-year-old move on as he’s been frozen out by gaffer Jos Luhukay and he’s yet to make an appearance in the campaign of 2018/19.

Everyone has their own preferred choice for the reason behind why that is now the case.

In any event, Leeds United have lost on-loan Chelsea goalkeeper Jamal Blackman to an injury that appears likely to keep him out for the remainder of the season (broken tibia) and discussing their potential options for a replacement on social media, a number were quick to name-check Westwood as the man they should bring in when the window opens.

Westwood wasn’t the only goalkeeper brought into the debate but given we clearly want to move him on for financial reasons, Leeds could well see him as a bargain and I don’t doubt we’d be open to doing a deal.
