Young Owls striker Drew Talbot is set to sign for Championship rivals Luton Town for a fee of £250k – despite Brian Laws insisting the striker ‘wasn’t for sale’ earlier today.

The 20-year-old striker, who is currently in the middle of a loan deal with League One outfit Scunthorpe United has travelled down to Kenilworth Road to begin discussions with Hatters boss Mike Newell.

And the deal is likely to go ahead subject to Talbot agreeing terms with the Championship struggler’s and passing a medical – despite Brian Laws revealing the Barnsley product wasn’t for sale earlier today.

He told the Sheffield Star earlier: ‘He is not up for sale; I think people are speculating because Andy Keogh has gone.

‘Scunthorpe were struggling for a striker; Drew’s loan helped them and it helped him and me because it is getting him some games, and when he has sharpened his match fitness it will help me to make a solid judgement about him.’

Talbot will be remembered by Owls fans for netting the fourth goal to secure promotion from League One in the 4-2 victory over Hartlepool United in the play-off final at Cardiff almost two years ago.
