Wednesday chief executive Kaven Walker has revealed to Radio Sheffield today that the Owls are currently in negotiations with a group bidding to takeover the club.

The Owls have long been linked with a takeover bid and Wednesday fans are expecting some news before the start of the 2007-08 campaign after club chairman Dave Allen revealed he hoped for a deal to be done before the new campaign kicks-off in August.

But it wouldn’t be the first time the Owls have confirmed talks with parties interested in investing or taking over the club, after a Chinese consortium arrived to look around Hillsborough earlier this year.

Takeover talk has muted since then, but Wednesday now appear to be in negotiations with an interested party, although little can be said on the personnel and money involved in the deal according to the Owls chief executive.

Paul Gregg and Irish billionaire Sean Quinn have been the latest names linked with Wednesday, and could well be the group in discussions over a takeover bid at S6 at present.
