Sheffield Wednesday enjoyed a 3-0 win over Queens Park Rangers on Saturday afternoon and Dominic Iorfa was one of many players lauded by supporters for his performance. The Owls have been inconsistent, but Iorfa has been one shining light of the season. On Saturday, he scored early against QPR and helped limit them to just one shot on target over 90 minutes.
Iorfa is a beast. Pass it on #swfc

If we can keep Iorfa this window, things might be slightly less bleak! #swfc

Against the Hoops, Iorfa made 30 touches, won two aerial duels, completed 50% of his 14 passes, made one interception, had one shot with he scored from, made one clearance, had three long balls with 33% accuracy and made four tackles. Eberechi Eze, Olamide Shodipo, Bright Samuel and Jack Clarke only managed one shot between them thanks to Iorfa et al.
The £1.44m-rated defender joined Wednesday from Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 2019 and has gone on to make 54 appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals with three assists. Iorfa has been a regular at centre-back this season, making 42 appearances across the board, but there are growing fears that he may leave Wednesday if Premier League clubs have him on their radar.
Garry Monk made the decision to switch to three central defenders when football returned and Iorfa has flourished in the new role.
