With Sheffield Wednesday continuing their unbeaten run under caretaker gaffer Lee Bullen as we took a 2-0 victory over Barnsley at the weekend following goals from on loan Newcastle United man Jacob Murphy and Steven Fletcher, there was obviously plenty of praise flying around in the aftermath of the game.
Given 24-year-old Murphy opened the scoring two minutes into his debut following his late arrival at Hillsborough, he rightly came in for significant praise and plenty of Owls fans are excited about our potential this year with Murphy on the one flank, and Kadeem Harris on the other.
Murphy didn’t take the Man of the Match award according to statistics website Whoscored as Scottish international Fletcher took that award, but it was a tight run thing with Fletcher being awarded 8.38 and Murphy picking up a more than credible 8.21.
Taking to social media to reflect on his performance, his efforts were certainly appreciated by plenty in the fanbase.
Welcome to #swfc and Hillsborough Jacob Murphy, you made a big impact yesterday after some said it wasn’t possible….

Tell you something we look such a better attacking outlet now we’ve got the likes of Harris and Murphy with Fletcher up front. Nice to see us able to counter attack again #swfc pic.twitter.com/4NR8qtwoWj

Great game and great day at Hillsborough. Murphy and Harris are a worry for the championship this season. All new signings look good. We actually played some nice football. Let's keep up this good work boys.

Wednesday look sublime. Two new boys, Kadeem Harris and Jacob Murphy tan the show yesterday. We created so many chances, it could have been 7. Great start. Hopefully, it keeps going. #swfc

Having Murphy and Harris on opposite wings is filthy. Never thought a couple of men could give me the excitement those two do. @EFL gonna have to step in and dock us points if we carry on like this otherwise its just gonna get stupid

Perfect team performance today so comfortable. Borner was outstanding as was, Harris, Murphy, lees but Lee was exceptional what a player just s fantastic midfielder performance made it look easy his passing at times was a sheer joy to behold. What a player. Uto. #swfc
