Sturrock’s plan of bringing a striker in on loan in time for the Plymouth game have been ruined by illness.

Sturrock believed the move for an unamed striker would be tied up before this weekend but the deal collapsed at the last minute.

He has however said another bid, this time for a permanent deal, should be sewn up and the deal for the unammed ‘ill’ player should still be tied up as he is expected to ‘get better very quickly’. Not sure if there is a hidden meaning in that or not!?

The Owls have been linked continuously with Wycombes Nathan Tyson, but Wycombe have turned down two approaches for their leading scorer already and Sturrocks attention appears to have moved elsewhere.

MK Dons have put a half million pound price on their striker Clive Platt as he is again being linked to the Owls.

MK Dons manager Wilson said ‘We value him highly.’ Well, yes, half a million pounds, we know!!
