Owls boss Paul Sturrock has admitted defeat in his search for new players this week, leaving only 11 fit senior players for the weekend trip to Southampton.

Sturrock was hoping to add a ‘keeper to the squad following the injury to David Lucas, but Chris Adamson will continue between the sticks at St Mary’s.

He was also hopefuly of adding an outfield plater to the squad following this week’s crippling injury’s at Hillsborough, but appears to have been unsuccessful in his search.

Sturrock told the official SWFC site: ”At this juncture we’re going to go with what we’ve got and we’ll take stock after Saturday. In an emergency, or the circumstances of another injury or two in a key area, I’m very hopeful the chairman would be understanding of the situation.

Striker Leon Best and midfielder Yoann Folly are ineligable for the trip to St Mary’s as part of the pairs loan deals.

David Lucas, Steve Adams and Drew Talbot will miss the rest of the season, while Drissa Diallo has been ruled out for up to six weeks. Jon Paul McGovern, Craig Rocastle, and Richard Wood are out for 2-3 weeks.
