Owls boss Gary Megson is looking to complement the loan capture of Michail Antonio by bringing in a new striker before the end of the week, Vital understands.

Antonio agreed a loan switch to Hillsborough from Reading today and Megson doesn’t want to stop there in bolstering his squad ahead of Sunday’s big Steel City derby against Sheffield United.

With the Owls strikers currently misfiring in front of goal, Megson is understood to be keen on adding to his options with another emergency loan signing this week.

Top-scorer Gary Madine, who has 12 goals to his name this season, has scored just once since the Owls met the Blades in the reverse fixture back in October.

Chris O’Grady, although important in Megson’s starting eleven, doesn’t have a good goals-to-games ratio, while Ryan Lowe has been hit-and-miss and Clinton Morrison has scored just one league goal this term.

Megson is thought to be keen on adding a new striker before the end of the week, and in time for the derby, but may have to wait to get his man.
