Owls defender Tommy Spurr is expected to leave Hillsborough for pastures new this summer.

The full-back’s future has been up in the air since the arrival of Gary Megson as manager and the need to rebuild the squad ahead of a promotion push next season.

And Spurr, who came through the Owls Academy, could be one of the casualties this summer. Milan Mandaric, the Owls chairman, has revealed to BBC Radio Sheffield that Spurr will be on the move this close season.

The Dewsbury-born defender has been linked with a move to Yorkshire rivals Leeds United and Steel City rivals Sheffield United, while Nottingham Forest have also been mentioned as being interested in his services.

The 23-year-old has made over 200 appearances in the famous blue and white stripes and became somewhat of a fans’ favourite at Hillsborough, despite coming in for some criticism last season.
