Doncaster Rovers have completed the signing of Wednesday left-back Tommy Spurr.

Spurr has been linked with a move to the npower Championship club for some weeks and the deal has now been confirmed by Rovers.

The fee has been undisclosed but it’s believed to be around the £200k mark, with Spurr penning a two-year deal at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Leeds-born Spurr came through the Wednesday Academy at a similar time to Mark Beevers and became a fans’ favourite in his first few seasons thanks to his high work rate and never-say-die attitude.

His progress has halted over the last year-and-a-half though and the left-back fell out of favour with Owls boss Gary Megson towards the end of last season.

The deal seems to be in the interest of all parties and Spurr will be hoping to kick-on with Rovers next term.
