With an opening day 3-2 defeat for Sheffield Wednesday as newly promoted Wigan Athletic took all three points in our opening day of the 2018/19 campaign, plenty of summer worries for Owls fans were simply exacerbated ahead of the meeting with owner Dejphon Chansiri at the beginning of the week.
A pretty open talk, lots of honesty and even some bite and passion from the man at the top might not have removed concerns fans had ahead of this season, but it certainly seems to have helped calm them for many in the fan base.
What would now do the club wonders is the first three points of the year as we host Nigel Adkins’ Hull City at Hillsborough tomorrow.
Taking to social media to discuss the upcoming game, plenty of fans were in agreement that the best chance of us getting those three points and that first win was for midfielder Joey Pelupessy to miss out as one of a few recommended changes manager Jos Luhukay was given – if he was reading the social media thread at any rate.
The Dutchman has shown glimpses of what he’s capable of but the hope was he’d have fully adjusted to the Championship this summer after his January arrival, but his individual showing against Wigan was poor – he wasn’t alone and he wasn’t the only change fans were on board with either.
Agree with that Dom but now the window is shut, surely Westwood should come in or is he not playing because of appearance bonuses or something like that?

JL denied today that it is anything to do with any clauses in his contract/appearance bonuses.
IMO, KW should not be discarded. Still has a lot to offer.— Dom Howson (@domhowson) August 9, 2018
I’d agree with that side Dom, I think to get the most out of Hutchinosn this season I think he has to play centre half, to many injuries /suspensions playing middle of the park,

They need to start the game faster & keep the crowd on their side. These slow starts & not playing a higher tempo game until we go behind is harming the spirit in both fans n players.

Id move van aken into midfield (puts tin hat on)

Reach is not at all suited for lwb role. He should be played in midfield alongside Bannan, and Penney should finally get to start at lwb. Only one with enough pace and energy to play the role (his crossing, and skill on the ball would help us as well).

He won’t do this but it would work;
4-3-3
Westwood
Baker, lees, Thornily, Pudil
Baz, Hutch, Reach
Fessi, Fletcher, JoaoThrowback to the first season, play fluid compact football through the middle, Baz & Fessi play in between the lines, let teams worry about us!

With a number of sensible options suggested it’s also fair to say we could see exactly the same lineup with hopes they do better.
