Following a difficult summer for Sheffield Wednesday, things didn’t get any easier on the pitch as we opened the 2018/19 Championship campaign up with a defeat to Wigan Athletic, but the second match of the campaign did return a point.
Hosting Hull City at Hillsborough for the game last weekend, Wednesday battled to a 1-1 draw with Fernando Forestieri once again finding the back of the net for the second successive match and he was one of a few positives that a number of fans were able to take from the 90 minutes.
One of the other positives was that with a greater clinical edge to our play we could well have taken all three points and the first win of the campaign, but the best chances fell to Steven Fletcher who is still working his way back to full fitness and unfortunately for us, he was wasteful on the day.
Attempting to buoy the fans following the match, midfielder Barry Bannan took to social media and the message attached sparked as much conversation as the photo chosen.
Disappointing result again today but take the positives and move on and great to see this man back out there today buzzing for him #swfc pic.twitter.com/4yLE2IXkQ2

You can make your own jokes!
There were plenty of positives, not everyone sees it though ????♂️

Can’t be missing sitters like that, if he’s ready he’s ready and plays. Had a great game, but we pay him to score goals ultimately. 2 points dropped

We're all behind you and the lads, Baz. Keep at it and the results will come. Great to see Fletch back out there too ????

The change made bringing Thornley on for Fox showed the side we should be lining up with in future. When Joao is back fit we will be a side to be reckoned with. We just need to believe on ourselves, when we have a chance to move forward we need to be quicker. WAWAW
