Wednesday’s on-loan striker Akpo Sodje insists he’s keen to turn his loan deal with Charlton Athletic into a permanent one come the end of the season.

Sodje scored a consolation goal in Charlton’s surprise 2-1 defeat at home to Brighton last night and is hoping his goals bag him a contract at the Valley.

‘I’d love to stay and there’s something on the table but I’m not really going to discuss a contract or anything, I’m going to focus on the next game and just keep myself going,’ he said.

The Owls allowed the striker to leave Hillsborough on loan, and it’s expected the London-born hitman won’t pull on the famous blue and white shirt again.

He scored nine goals in just 18 starts and 23 appearances from the bench for Wednesday during his two-year spell with the club.
