Coventry City have put Wednesday boss Alan Irvine top of their ‘wanted list’ to replace Chris Coleman, according to reports today.

The Sky Blues parted company with Coleman following a poor run of results which left them closer to the Championship basement than the play-off spots.

And City have drawn up a list of candidates to fill the vacant manager’s position at the Ricoh Arena – with Irvine thought to be leading the list.

Irvine arrived at Hillsborough midway through last season but, despite a decent return of results, couldn’t stop the Owls falling into League One.

He’s already started planning for a campaign in England’s third tier with the Owls but a switch back to the Championship could well be tempting.

Crystal Palace boss Paul Hart and Tony Mowbray, sacked by SPL giants Celtic, are also thought to be in the running.
