Paul Sturrock and Frankie Simek both looked forward to the final match of the US tour.

‘The important aspect of the trip is fitness and building that up and that has certainly happened and we’ve seen an improvement,’ said the Wednesday manager. ‘But it would be nice if we could return with a win and nice for those Wednesday fans who are out here to see their team play in this country. We got a good workout on Wednesday with 10 of the side playing the full 90 minutes and they will have benefited from that.’

Frankie Simek clearly enjoys playing in the US, watched by his family. ‘The trip has flown by. We have had two games already, a lot of training sessions and quite a bit of travelling – I think it has gone well overall. The first two games were tough, hopefully we can get a win against Rochester and it is a chance to get the fitness and match sharpness up. That is the main thing.’

The Owls finish their US tour tonight against the Rochester Raging Rhinos, currently third in the USL 1st Division, at Paetec Park, Rochester, NY.
