News that one of Wednesday`s promotion heros of the 2011/12 League One season. When, if you need reminding the Owls overcame the Blades to seize the second automatic promotion spot behind Charlton.

Throughout that season partnering either Rob Jones or Miguel Llera was a young central defender on a season long loan from then Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers by the name of Danny Batth.

Having impressed at S6 during his loan stint the previous season, the club moved to re-sign him on loan once again. Batth scored in a 2-0 away win at Preston North End on New Year’s Eve 2011, and a second league goal on 10 March 2012 in a 3-0 win against Bournemouth at Hillsborough. Batth finished that season on 49 appearances in all competitions, and was voted runner-up in the club’s ‘Player of the Season’ award as a result of his fine season. Despite this the then Owls boss Dave Jones ruled out a summer move for the Wolves defender and instead secured journeymen signings Martin Taylor and Anthony Gardner as he broke-up the Owls promotion winning side.

Now, Batth`s future at his home club Wolves is thought to be in jeopardy as Fosun spend the cash including £15m on 20-year-old Portuguese international Ruben Neves and the season loan capture Willy Bony being confirmed in the last few days. The Black Country natives budget for the rest of the summer will rely heavily on player sales.

Of the 29 players at Head coach Nuno Santo`s disposal it`s believed the likes of club captain Danny Batth is joined by the likes Matt Doherty, Lee Evans and Joe Mason on the transfer list. Fellow squad members Andy Lonergan and Jack Price have been told they can leave and Ethan Ebanks-Landell is expected to join Championship rivals Sheffield United, where he enjoyed a successful loan spell last season.

This story shares many on the same merits as Grant Hanley`s story of a few weeks ago with the Scottish centre back lost in Newcastle`s squad shake-up the same appears to be happening to Batth at Wolves as Fosun (Chinese Consortium) jostle their staff and players to make an assault on promotion next season.
