Sheffield Wednesday fell short to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, and supporters have called for Garry Monk to drop Keiren Westwood after his mistake in the 2-1 defeat.
West Brom’s opening goal came from Hal Robson-Kanu in the 10th minute. His low effort from close range went Westwood’s legs and into the back of the net. Their second goal came from a late Charlie Austin penalty in the 88th minute after Westwood brought down Matheus Pereira in the area.
Thing I never get about football fans is when they compare the now to the past. I'd say Westwood should be dropped for his form now. What he did 1-2-3 or 4 years ago isn't relevant #swfc

Anyone who even attempts to stick up for Westwood nowadays needs to watch this #swfc https://t.co/ARgQCQgZMS

Westwood is costing us so many points this season, and if you can’t see it then you are either blind or deluded #swfc

Monk needs to grow some and drop Westwood otherwise Dawson will be off for free in the summer. #swfc

Same old once again. Now is the time to drop Westwood – last 3 games he has cost us. #swfc

Should Keiren Westwood be dropped?
Yes
No
Westwood has made 15 Championship appearances this season, conceding 16 goals and keeping four clean sheets. The 35-year-old has been inconsistent between the sticks and could be replaced by Cameron Dawson if he can’t cut out the mistakes. The Owls next face Birmingham City on Wednesday.
Garry Monk’s men are winless in their last four league games and find themselves slipping down the table as a result. They’ve conceded two or more goals in each of their last three Championship outings, so something needs to change.
Could Wednesday’s midweek clash with Birmingham be Westwood’s last chance to prove his worth?
