Cameron Dawson came in for criticism after Sheffield Wednesday’s 3-1 defeat to Derby County. The 24-year-old conceded three goals in one game for the third time in four matches and was guilty of letting in efforts that other goalkeepers would have saved.
Where will Sheffield Wednesday finish in the Championship?
1st - 6th
7th - 14th
15th - 21th
22th - 24th
Derby’s first goal was a deflected Tom Lawrence effort that wrong-footed Dawson, but the Owls’ stopper got hands to Lawrence’s second goal and was somehow beaten at the far post by Jason Knight’s effort from a tight angle.
Dawson has now conceded 24 goals in 12.5 games.
Unacceptable #swfc

Sorry read ‘sooner we clear the decks the better ‘ as just that 🤷🏼♀️ My bad 🤐 TBF don’t think Dawson is up to it at all , not all his fault but how do you ship 20 odd goals in a handful of games and keep your place !!

From what I've seen, I'd rather have Les Dawson in goal! #swfc

Another disgusting performance from Tom lees again today (club captain) Harris had a Stinker, as for this goalkeeping situation, yes it’s not Dawson’s fault he’s getting picked, so I blame the manager, the kids not good enough #swfc why can’t monk see it? Iorfa on bench wow.

Any reason #swfc keep playing that Dawson in goal over Westwood? Every week I see him concede soft goals

Dawson replaced Keiren Westwood as Wednesday’s first-choice goalkeeper in November 2019 and initially impressed with four goals conceded in six games, but he’s been letting in goals frequently since mid-December and may find his place in the starting lineup at risk.
The 24-year-old has conceded 24 goals in his last 13 Championship appearances and was partly culpable for two of the three goals Wednesday conceded against Derby. Westwood and Joe Wildsmith are waiting in the wings for an opportunity, but time will tell if Garry Monk considers another goalkeeper change.
There’s still three months of the season remaining, however, so Wednesday’s season could unravel if changes aren’t made.
