Sheffield Wednesday defender to miss Brentford clash but will return to face Derby

|

Sheffield Wednesday will be without Liam Palmer against Brentford on Saturday, but the 28-year-old will return to face Derby County on Wednesday.

Palmer is serving the third of a three-match ban following his straight red card against West Bromwich Albion (November 23). He missed Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham City (November 27) and 3-1 win over Charlton Athletic (November 30).

The Scotland international is likely to return to the matchday squad against Derby and could even be named in his starting lineup. Palmer’s match fitness may need improving after a two-week absence, but some fans don’t believe Moses Odubajo has set the place alight for Wednesday since replacing him.

Palmer has been a regular this season, making 15 Championship appearances and playing every minute (990) of every league game (11) between September and mid-November), but Moses hasn’t managed to hold down a starting place and was playing second-fiddle to the 28-year-old before the red card.

Should Liam Palmer return to Sheffield Wednesday's starting XI after serving his suspension?

Yes

No

It all may depend on how Wednesday fare against Brentford. Saturday’s meeting might be Moses’ last chance to prove himself to Garry Monk. If he succeeds, he may just keep his place for their meeting at the iPro next week.
