Sheffield Wednesday defender returns to training ahead of Manchester City clash

According to the Sheffield Star, Moses Odubajo returned to training ahead of Sheffield Wednesday’s FA Cup clash with Manchester City, but it remains to be seen if he’ll be fit to face the Premier League champions.

How will Sheffield Wednesday fare against Manchester City?

Win

Draw

Lose

The 26-year-old has been out of action for more than a month with a hamstring injury, causing him to miss Wednesday’s last six games. Odubajo’s last appearance came in the Owls’ 0-0 draw with Millwall in February.

The right-back was absent for Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Barnsley, 1-0 defeat to Luton Town, 3-0 defeat to Reading, 3-3 draw with Birmingham City, 1-0 win over Charlton Athletic and 3-1 defeat to Derby County, so he’s going to be short of match fitness.

Garry Monk has Liam Palmer, Dominic Iorfa and Osaze Urhoghide to call upon, so he doesn’t need to rush Odubajo back so soon. It may be a good decision to leave the 26-year-old at home and have him ready for Wednesday’s trip to Brentford on Saturday.

The Owls (12th) are eight points adrift of the Championship playoffs and ten points clear of relegation after 36 games, so they desperately need a win on the weekend to ensure they arrest their slide in the table. The FA Cup provides Wednesday with a welcome distraction, but Monk won’t be prioritising the midweek clash.
