Sheff Wed midfielder has ‘calf injury’ ahead of Nottm Forest clash, ruled out for ‘three weeks’

|

According to the Sheffield Star, Josh Windass has a ‘calf injury’ ahead of Sheffield Wednesday’s meeting with Nottingham Forest on Saturday, June 20 and could be out of action for ‘three weeks’.

The 26-year-old picked up the injury in training and may not play another game for Wednesday due to the severity of his calf problem. The Sheffield Star say Windass will be out until July, so he won’t be playing a big part in the run-in.

Who did Sheffield Wednesday sign Josh Windass on loan from?

Windass joined the Owls on loan from Wigan Athletic in January and has gone on to make four appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals. The Englishman failed to nail down a regular starting place under Garry Monk before the Covid-19 pandemic, but he is keen to stay on this summer.

If Windass will be out for nearly a month, there’s little point retaining his services, however. The Owls will face Nottingham Forest (June 20), Bristol City (June 28), West Brom (July 1), Swansea City (July 4), and Preston North End (July 7) over the next three weeks, so Windass could miss five out of nine remaining games.

Wednesday are currently 15th in the Championship ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Forest.
