Sheff Wed defender picks up ankle injury after Cardiff defeat, could miss Hull clash

|

Sheffield Wednesday suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Cardiff City on Sunday and Liam Palmer picked up an ankle injury that could keep him out for their next game. The 28-year-old was the recipient of a dangerous tackle from Junior Hoilett that Garry Monk said has caused a lot of swelling.

Wednesday next face Hull City on New Year’s Day, but Palmer is likely to miss out. The right-back had to be replaced for Julian Borner in the 62nd minute and was on the treatment table after the match. Moses Odubajo and Dominic Iorfa could replace him.

Palmer has made 19 league appearances this season, starting the campaign at left-back before nailing down a regular spot on the right. The Scotland international has been competing with Odubajo for a starting place but will now have to make way for the 26-year-old.
