Sheffield Wednesday’s missing man Gary Hooper has reportedly headed to Spain for treatment on his ‘hip’ injury this weekend.
It has been an honor to receive Gary Hooper, from Sheffield Wednesday FC. @swfc, who has moved to Barcelona to be treated with Dr. José Manuel Sánchez. #Football🔝 ⚽ @EPI_Advanced pic.twitter.com/NTpg2YcoLo

The 30-year-old striker last turned out for the Owls back on Boxing Day last year and it was initially hoped that whatever the issue was in terms of an injury, it would quickly solve itself. All these months on and with the player still struggling for fitness, quite why Spain is the destination as opposed to the United States is beyond me, but he’s obviously off for some kind of specialist advice and treatment now with the 2018/19 Championship campaign nearing.
We do however have an existing relationship with the CEREDE Sports Rehab centre in Barcelona as Dr Jose Manuel Sanchez has previously worked with Hooper and also teammate Sam Hutchinson when he picked up an ankle problem earlier this year.
The development comes after the player took part in a double training session last week so there’s plenty of concern now. With 11 goals in 25 matches before injury hit last season and the fact he’s only got 12 months left on his contract, we need him back and quickly.
He’s looking trim. Get fit soon @HOOP588 we need you.

Nothing official from the club, but it is not a follow up appointment. He's definitely receiving treatment.

It’s just not Gary Hooper unless he’s missing for half the season.

As much As I like Hooper I think @swfc Sweet to seriously consider getting rid along with a few other to much time injured and 30+k a week could be better spent

How come they never have treatment in Bognor Regis,Skegness or say Milton Keynes or Kings Lynn.
— Manco ???????????????? (@kylewalsh90) July 22, 2018
Never fit and probably go on a free next year after all the wages why hasn't he extended his contract or being sold because at this rate we get nothing? Dom whys this been allowed to happen? No wonder we are in ffp trouble
— Tony Hinds (@tonyblueowl) July 22, 2018
Great player but get rid imo. We have half a squad which is never fit. £32k a week eating into our wage bill for 20 games a season isn't sustainable
