Southampton boss George Burley has offered young midfielder Yoann Folly a new contract after completing a successful loan spell with the Owls this season.

The Frenchman has made 14 appearances for the Owls since his move north from the Saints back in March, and is thought to be a key target for owls boss Paul Sturrock in the summer.

Folly has not yet accepted the contract deal and may be holding out for a deal from Hillsborough, but the fact that the Saints have offered him a new deal means Wednesday will have to pay a fee for the midfielder as he’s under 24.

He made 12 appearances for the Saints side and was brought into the first team squad when Sturrock was boss at St Mary’s. He’s struggled since the Scot left for Hillsborough though and has been loaned out to Preston North End and Nottingham Forest for first team experience.

Folly is likely to ponder over the new deal over the next week and is likely to decide his fate sooner rather than later – with Paul Sturrock keen to get his new-look squad ready for the new season.
