Bristol City boss Gary Johnson was disappointed with his side’s performance in the 1-1 draw with Wednesday yesterday, but had plenty of praise for the Owls.

Johnson revealed he was wary of Brian Laws and his men prior to the clash, noting them as an unknown quantity given injuries illness and a need for change given recent poor results.

And he was proved right with his predictions as promotion chasing City were held to a 1-1 draw as Luke Varney levelled Nicky Maynard’s opener at Ashton Gate.

‘I said it might be frustrating because I felt Sheffield Wednesday would come with a 4-5-1 formation,’ he told the official Bristol City website.

‘However, it wasn’t just defensively where they were decent, they also counter-attacked against us well.’

He added: ‘We looked all over the place. I suppose you could say we gained a point today because we were so poor. We nicked a point.’
