Sheffield Wednesday fans have been given a boost ahead of our long trip to Cardiff City this weekend as another dull international break falls by the wayside, as 29-year-old attacker Fernando Forestieri finally returns to contention following the seriously harsh six game suspension he was handed.
On Sunday, he got 90 minutes under his belt as our Under 23 side cruised to a 5-1 victory over ten man Hull City in the Premier League Division 2 clash and he now comes into manager Garry Monk’s first team thoughts for the return of Championship fixtures on Friday evening.
With the club taking to social media to confirm he was back in contention for the game, Wednesday fans were naturally delighted that he could now play his part in hopefully, continuing what has been a good start to life at Hillsborough for Monk.
Enjoyed today's training @Forestieri45? đź‘Ź

Hopefully this is the Fessi of old, the 'imposter' who has been playing over the last couple of years has been way off that level

Let's hope we see the Fernando from that first season with us. Talented player that could be the difference for us if he's in the mood.

Hopefully he has had time to reflect on the last 2 years when he has not been good enough. We are in desperate need of a creative option up top and the Fessi of old can be that guy.

Good news. Make sure he’s finished all his little jobs first though ???????????????? #lovefernando ????

With Wednesday only one point shy of the Play-Off spots at this stage of the season, it would be a boost for everyone if we picked up three points and put the pressure on those ahead of us but it’s an incredibly tight table so far, so if Forestieri can work his magic, it’s all to play for.
