Reports in Scotland broke yesterday that the Owls are set to face the Glasgow Rangers at Hillsborough, on Sunday the 30th of July. It would be the Owls final pre-season game, and only home pre-season fixture before the Owls take to Lancashire to face Preston under their new manager, Alex Neil.

Neither club are yet to confirm the friendly, as minor details are yet to be agreed (as per the Sheffield Star). They are also reporting that the friendly should be confirmed by the end of the week.

Rangers did not organise a pre-season campaign, and are now scrambling for fixtures, as they went out of Europa League qualifying in a big upset, against Luxembourg outfit, Progres Niederkorn.

However, this will not be the first friendly the Owls have played against the Gers, as they made the same trek down from Glasgow in 2013. Michail Antonio scored the only goal of the day.

Carlos will have a domestic battle with fellow countryman Pedro Caixanha on the touchline, but many of the Owls Scottish contingent may have some stern feelings towards the game also. Many players have represented their Scottish rivals, Celtic, such as Glenn Loovens, Gary Hooper, and Ross Wallace.
