Hutchinson was exiled from the first-team by Garry Monk and hasn’t featured for the Owls since mid-January, so it’s highly unlikely he’ll be handed a new deal.

Wednesday have until June 23 to either extend his contract to the end of the revised season, extend his contract beyond 2020 or release him on a free transfer. Monk could opt for the latter, as it will save Dejphon Chansiri £1.04m-a-year/£20k-a-week on the wage bill.

Hutchinson joined from Chelsea in 2014 and has made 154 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals and making four assists. The 30-year-old has made 24 appearances this season, but his last outing came in Wednesday’s 5-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers (January 18).

Monk exiled the midfielder from the first-team and has continually played down the prospect of a return, so Hutchinson isn’t likely to feature again before he leaves – Wednesday lock horns with Nottingham Forest on June 20 and won’t have their ball-winner in the squad for the 10th consecutive outing.
