Report: Defender could leave Sheffield Wednesday in January

|

According to Dom Howson of the Sheffield Star, Moses Odubajo could be on his way out of Sheffield Wednesday in January after being told by Garry Monk that he’s surplus to requirements.

The 26-year-old has struggled for consistency this season and currently finds himself behind Liam Palmer in the pecking order. Odubajo has made 14 appearances in all competitions, the last of which came in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Derby County (December 11, 2019).

He was sent off against the Rams and subsequently missed the Owls’ 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest (December 14). The former England u20 international returned against Bristol City eight days later but was only deemed good enough for the bench as Wednesday enjoyed a 1-0 win.

Odubajo was then left out of the matchday squad in the 3-2 defeat to Stoke City on Boxing Day before being an unused substitute in the 2-1 defeat to Cardiff City (December 29) and 1-0 defeat to Hull City (January 1, 2020). His complete omission in Wednesday’s FA Cup win over Brighton & Hove Albion (January 4) raised some eyebrows.

Odubajo joined on a free transfer from Brentford in July but is already available for sale.
