As the week came to a close, Sheffield Wednesday saw a report surface that claimed, as expected really, the club were in talks to sign Steve Bruce favourite Josh Onomah from Tottenham Hotspur.

Bruce worked with the 22-year-old at Aston Villa in the 2017/18 campaign when he brought him in on loan from Spurs at Villa Park, and although he didn’t bring the former England Under 21 international into Hillsborough, he had no concerns about rejoining him at the club.

The player again was hit with injuries though and some will naturally have concerns about that given our more recent record with players picking up wages and contributing little, but if the claim from Football Insider is correct, we seem confident of capturing the youngster on a permanent deal this summer.

No fee and no real details are given but they do state a ‘multi-million-pound fee’ and most fans will be hoping that simply means £2million tops given his injury record as they look to sensationalise things.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Bruce want him back though and given it seems his time at Spurs must be up, I’d be surprised if this one wasn’t wrapped up quickly – if anything the delay in announcing will be our end as we continue to juggle Financial Fair Play and our soft embargo.
